Quick take
Streamlined barrel sinkers in light weights for pike and general fishing with minimal line damage.
The Dinsmores Barrel is an 8 g leger weight with a streamlined barrel shape, finished in black and sized at 1 1/4 inches. It suits legering across many kinds of water, and pike anglers are among those it is meant for. Its aerodynamic profile is built to help the weight cast cleanly and slide freely on the line.
Best for
- Pike fishing in moving water
- Gentle presentations on light line
- Live-bait rigs where drag matters
Skip if
- You need to hold bottom in fast current; use heavier bank or pyramid sinkers
- You want distance casting; bullet or egg sinkers track straighter
Strengths
- Aerodynamic shape minimizes water resistance on the drop
- Light weights suit float-fished baits and delicate presentations
- Black finish blends with most waters
Trade-offs
- At 2 to 8 grams, the weights are light; heavy-water situations need heavier tackle
- Barrel shape does not grip the bottom as well as pyramid shapes
- Single-pack quantity means you need multiple purchases to test weights
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
- Techniques
- Live bait
- Bottom fishing
