Quick take
Aluminum rod clips that attach to clothing or gear to keep rods accessible and hands free.
This is a two-piece set of wearable rod clips in an aluminum body, one black and one red, that clip onto a jacket, vest, pack or chest wader. They hold a rod so both hands are free for changing flies, rigging a leader or handling a fish. Handy for fly anglers wading a creek, and they work just as well for bass or salmon trips.
Best for
- Fly fishing while tying new leaders
- Landing fish without setting down the rod
- Photography during active fishing
Skip if
- You fish in open water with no cover concerns
- You prefer rod racks in boats
Strengths
- Lightweight anodized aluminum barely noticeable when worn
- Three notch sizes accommodate most conventional rod diameters
- Sponge padding protects rod finish from scratches
Trade-offs
- Holding rods during active fighting may limit positioning
- Attachment points on fabric may fray or tear over time
- Wearable design works best with close-fitting waders or vests
