Quick take
Silicone rod butt cushions protect rod seats from scratches and dings during storage and transport.
This is a set of eight silicone butt cushions for the end of a fishing rod, in four colors. They are sized for rod ends from about 30 to 34 mm and carry a small drain hole so water can escape. A soft cap like this is a simple way to keep a rod end from scuffing on rocks, truck beds and boat decks.
Best for
- Protecting rod seats against rough surfaces
- Easy storage without rod damage
- Reducing friction when handling
Skip if
- You prefer fixed rod cases
- You need rod protection during fishing
Strengths
- Non-slip silicone grips securely
- Drainage hole prevents water pooling
- Lightweight and easy to install
- Available in different sizes to match rod diameters
Trade-offs
- Limited protection for major impacts
- Silicone may degrade with extended sun exposure
- Requires measuring rod diameter for correct fit
