Quick take
An electronic fish scale with integrated lip gripper and retractable measuring tape for weighing and measuring your catch.
This Dr.meter PS01 pairs a handheld digital suspension scale with a stainless steel lip gripper, so one tool holds the fish and weighs it. The backlit LCD reads up to 110 lb in 0.2 lb steps and switches between lb, oz and kg. A built-in tape runs 3 feet (90 cm) for checking length on the spot, which suits anglers who measure and release.
Best for
- Tournament fishing and record documentation
- Anglers who track fish sizes for memory and bragging
- Weighing fish before release in catch-and-release trips
Skip if
- You need a simple mechanical scale
- You fish catch-and-release only without measurements
Strengths
- One-handed operation with secure lip grip
- LCD display with unit conversion simplifies reading
- Built-in measuring tape eliminates a separate tool
Trade-offs
- LCD display difficult to read in bright sunlight
- Battery drain from backlit display
- Stainless steel gripper hook can slip on fish with soft mouths
