Quick take
A hand-cast net with gray sinkers that sinks fast and evenly, designed for capturing live bait.
This is a round monofilament cast net with a 6 foot radius and a fine 1/4 inch mesh, aimed at anglers who gather their own live bait. The tight mesh holds small baitfish, and the gray coated sinkers run about 0.88 pounds per foot to pull the skirt down quickly. It comes with a floating braided hand rope, a neoprene wrist strap, a repair kit and a carry bag, so a first-time thrower has what is needed to start.
Best for
- Live bait collection in saltwater
- Trapping shrimp or small baitfish
- Anglers who cast and retrieve nets
Skip if
- You need extreme accuracy in confined spaces
- You are landing hooked fish
Strengths
- Gray sinker weights never rust and sink fast
- Floating braided rope handles well in salt water
- Mesh opening sealed at bottom to prevent escape
Trade-offs
- Requires practice to cast and open correctly
- Heavy wet net is tiring to retrieve repeatedly
