Quick take

Pack of 10 rubber covers that protect fishing hooks and lures during storage and transport.

This set of 10 red rubber covers slips over lure hooks to keep points from snagging your gear, your hands or your boat. They pull on and come off again at the next stop, which suits anglers who carry crankbaits and treble-hooked lures in a tackle bag. A pack this size covers a good share of a typical tackle box.

Best for

  • Protecting hooks in a tackle box
  • Keeping lures from tangling with other gear
  • Preventing accidental hook injuries

Skip if

  • You have a well-organized tackle box with compartments
  • You mainly store hard lures that do not need covers

Strengths

  • Durable rubber material stretches over various hook sizes
  • Easy to apply and remove repeatedly
  • Protects both angler and other tackle from sharp hooks

Trade-offs

  • Covers only 10 hooks and you may need more
  • Covers can slip off without a secure closure
  • Works only on hooks and does not protect soft baits
