Quick take
Size 4 bronze baitholder hooks with down eye and shank slices that hold worms and soft bait during casting and retrieval.
The Eagle Claw 181FH-4 is an offset baitholder hook in size 4, sold in a 50-piece pack. Its down eye and two bait slices on the shank hold worms, minnows and other live bait in place. It suits anglers who rig natural baits for bass and want a simple, bronze-finished hook made in the USA.
Best for
- Small worms and nightcrawlers under a float
- Bottom rigs with dough bait or small cut bait
- Panfish and perch on live bait
Skip if
- You plan to release most fish; circle hooks reduce injuries
- You fish soft plastics; use worm or ned hooks
Strengths
- Shank slices keep soft bait from sliding during cast
- Down-turned eye suits simple slip knots
- Bronze finish visible to fish yet rust-resistant enough
Trade-offs
- Shank slices make hook difficult to remove when deeply set
- Bronze finish rusts after saltwater use without rinsing
- Size 4 is too small for large catfish or pike
