Quick take
A compact pocket scale with integrated tape measure for weighing and measuring fish at the water.
This pocket-size fish scale from Eagle Claw weighs catches up to 28 lb and has a built-in 38 inch tape for checking length. The weighing hook folds away so it slips into a pocket or fly vest. It suits bass, walleye and similar freshwater fish, and works for many saltwater species too.
Best for
- Catch-and-release trips where you want exact fish data
- Bank fishing and wade fishing in remote waters
- Anglers keeping a detailed log of fish sizes and weights
Skip if
- You fish only for species heavier than 28 lb
- You need high-precision weight measurement
Strengths
- Fold-up hook and auto-lock mechanism make weighing easy with one hand
- 38-inch tape captures most fish length in a single pull
- Small size fits in a pocket or fly vest without bulk
Trade-offs
- 28 lb maximum capacity misses large catfish, pike, and saltwater species
- Tape measure is not flexible; unrolls only in one direction
- No digital readout; needle scale is less precise than digital models
