Quick take
A lightweight 6/7 fly reel with a large arbor spool and disc drag, suited for trout and medium fish on lighter rods.
The Echo Ion in the 6/7 size is a large arbor fly reel built on a solid alloy frame, with a hybrid design meant to balance on lighter rods. It has a Rulon disc drag with low start-up resistance, and an audible click as line goes out and comes in. It weighs about half a pound and works for either hand, a straightforward fit for trout and other freshwater fly fishing.
Best for
- Trout on weight-forward fly lines
- Small to medium streams
- Anglers seeking low-maintenance drag

Strengths
