Quick take

Portable two-sided diamond sharpener for keeping fishing hooks razor-sharp in the field.

A pocket-sized, two-sided diamond hook hone with a fine 800-grit face and a medium 600-grit face, each with a single groove. It has a non-slip rubber handle and a bright lanyard, so it clips to gear or rides in a tackle box. A good pick for anglers who want to touch up dulled points between casts.

Best for

  • Maintaining hook sharpness during fishing trips
  • Quick touchups before casting
  • Keeping emergency gear in tackle bag

Skip if

  • You prefer pre-sharpened hooks only
  • You fish with dull hooks

Strengths

  • Dual grit provides coarse and fine sharpening options
  • Compact size fits pocket or tackle bag
  • Diamond material stays sharper longer than stone

Trade-offs

  • Does not restore heavily damaged hooks
  • Requires technique to sharpen evenly
  • Lanyard can snag on gear
