Quick take
Three-formula UV resin system for building fly heads and bodies, curing in seconds under UV light.
This fly tying kit pairs three UV resins, thick, thin and flex, with a 395nm pen light for curing them. The thick resin builds up rounded heads on streamers and nymphs, the thin one flows into small areas like bodies and wings, and the flex one leaves a slightly rubbery finish for shrimp and crab patterns. Each bottle holds 0.7 ounces, and the light runs on two AAA batteries.
Best for
- Tying large streamer and nymph heads
- Adding bulk or durability to fly bodies
- Attaching eyes and ribbing securely
Skip if
- You tie small dry flies; thin resin may run off
- You do not have access to UV light between sessions
Strengths
- Crystal-clear finish on cured resin
- Thick formula stays in place for rounded heads
- Thin formula penetrates small areas without running
Trade-offs
- All three formulas require UV light to cure
- Included light runs 6-8 hours per battery set
- Flex formula still rigid when thin; test durability first
Fishing fit
- Skill level
- Intermediate
