Quick take
A compact 26-inch ice fishing rod with solid carbon for sensitivity, fast action, and stainless guides, paired with cork handle for grip in cold.
This 26-inch Fenwick HMG is a one-piece spinning rod built for ice fishing, with a medium-light power and fast action. Its solid carbon blank has a tapered, faster tip that gives lighter jigs more life under the ice. A cork handle and an ergonomic reel seat keep it comfortable through a long day on the hole.
Best for
- Ice fishing for panfish and walleye
- Detecting subtle jigging bite signals
- Cold weather comfort with cork handle
Skip if
- You fish open water; this rod is short and light for summer
- You prefer slower-action rods for live bait
Strengths
- Solid carbon blank provides high sensitivity for small bites
- Compact 26 inches fits easily through ice holes
- Fast action telegraphs jigging movement to the fish
Trade-offs
- Short length and light power limit to ice fishing only
- Aluminum oxide guides can frost over quickly
- Medium light power won't handle large pike or heavy jigging
