Quick take
This is an insulated ice fishing mitten with a waterproof membrane, a fleece lining and a goat leather palm. Thinsulate sits on the back of the hand and in the palm, and adjustable wrist and cuff straps help close out the cold. It suits anglers who spend long hours on the ice and want a mitten rather than a split-finger glove.
Best for
- Ice fishing in extreme cold
- Deckhands and professional guides handling lines in freezing water
- Saltwater fishing in winter and harsh weather
Skip if
- You fish in mild weather; these mittens are overkill
- You need full finger dexterity; mittens limit finger movement
Strengths
- 100% waterproof with HIPORA membrane keeps hands dry in harsh conditions
- Goat leather palm is durable and maintains grip when wet
- Thermo-conductive fleece lining actively transfers body heat
Trade-offs
- Mittens limit fine finger control for knot tying and tackle work
- The thick construction means these gloves take up more space
