Quick take

A 12-inch clam-scented bait strip that dissolves and releases flavor quickly in cold water, with no mesh to fray.

This is a scented bait strip for anglers who want soft bait with no mesh center. Each pack holds two strips about half an inch wide and a foot long, so one can be cut to size, hooked and cast. The fast-acting gel is meant for water under about 65 F and gives a stronger scent burst in warmer water. The bait can be re-hooked right away, which suits quick changes on the water.

Best for

  • Saltwater bottom fishing for flounder and other flatfish
  • Cold water temperatures below 60F where bait dissolves fast
  • Anglers who want to cut baits into custom sizes

Skip if

  • You fish warm water where fast-dissolving is not ideal
  • You prefer live clam or whole squid

Strengths

  • Fast-acting formula works quickly in cold water
  • Fiber construction dissolves cleanly without mesh tangles
  • Scent and flavor release attracts bottom feeders
  • Made in St. Augustine, Florida with pride

Trade-offs

  • Fast acting means it dissolves quickly, limiting soak time in warm water
  • 12-inch strips are large and require cutting for small-fish rigs
  • Color fading and scent loss are rapid in very cold water
