Quick take
Fast-dissolving gel bait strips with crab scent, cut to hook size and fished on the bottom or under a float.
The FishBites E-Z Crab Fast Acting is a gel bait strip you cut, hook and cast, with no inner mesh, so the bait breaks down fully in the water. Its fast-acting formula is meant for cooler water, where it releases its scent quickly. Each bag holds two strips, half an inch wide and twelve inches long, aimed at crappie, trout and other panfish anglers.
Best for
- Cold water fishing in winter and early spring
- Panfish under floats in shallow water
- Scent dispersal over bottom structure
Skip if
- You prefer live bait
- You fish warm water where gel dissolves too quickly
Strengths
- Fast-acting formula works in cold water below 60 F
- Fibers hold bait on hook through the cast
- Complete dissolution attracts fish to the immediate area
Trade-offs
- Gel dissolves quickly in warm water above 60 F
- Scent dispersal may attract unwanted species
- Smaller strips suit panfish and crappie only
