Quick take
Pennant-shaped gel bait strips with crab scent, sized for use with 2/0 and 3/0 hooks in water above 70 degrees.
Fish'n Strips in the crab scent are pennant-shaped gel baits, about 1.5 inches long, sold 15 to a bag. A mesh strip runs through the gel to help the bait stay put on the hook, and the shape suits 2/0 and 3/0 hooks or tipping a jig. They fit surf and inshore anglers going after crab-feeding fish such as redfish, drum and sheepshead.
Best for
- Saltwater bottom fishing
- Summer and warm-water conditions
- Tipping jigs and small hooks
Skip if
- You fish in cold water
- You prefer live bait
Strengths
- Gel formula incorporates mesh to keep bait on hook through multiple casts
- Scent melts into water rather than on your hands
- Pennant shape works for tipping jigs or fishing on its own
Trade-offs
- Durability decreases in water below 70 degrees
- Gel baits are less lifelike than live bait
- May require more frequent replacement than traditional baits

- Water
- Saltwater
