Quick take
A rechargeable digital scale with large capacity and precision increments, ideal for weighing large catch and tournament situations.
This handheld hanging scale from Fishfun weighs up to 110 pounds in 0.05 pound steps and switches between pounds, kilograms and pounds-ounces. It has a backlit LCD, a hold function to read the weight after you set the catch down, a tare function and a rechargeable battery. A strap and a hook slot make it easy to carry in a tackle bag, and a peak hold mode lets it double for measuring a bow's draw weight.
Best for
- Tournament fishing requiring precise weight records
- Weighing large catfish, saltwater fish and other species over 50 lb
- Anglers tired of constantly replacing batteries
Skip if
- You cannot access charging capability between fishing trips
Strengths
- Large 110 lb capacity covers most freshwater and saltwater species
- Rechargeable battery eliminates the need to carry replacement batteries
- 0.05 lb increments and digital display provide precision traditional scales cannot match
Trade-offs
- Rechargeable battery may fail after several years of regular use, requiring service
- Large capacity and LCD display make the scale heavier than mechanical alternatives
- Digital display requires adequate light or the backlit feature to read in darkness
