Quick take

Reusable foam rod ties with quick-release buckles that secure rods and float if dropped in water.

These Fishing Butler rod ties are a 2 pack of small 12-inch foam straps that hold the sections of a rod together for the drive or the boat ride. The 4 mm high density foam pads the rod against scratches and dents, the strap adjusts and releases quickly, and the ties float if one drops in the water. They also hang rods up for storage, and they work on paddles, hoses and ropes too.

Best for

  • Hanging multiple rods in a garage or cabin
  • Securing rods and paddles on boats and kayaks
  • Keeping extension cords and hoses organized

Skip if

  • You need permanent storage; use a rod rack or case
  • You plan to move rods frequently; ties are cumbersome

Strengths

  • High-density foam prevents rod dents and scratches
  • Quick-release design is faster than wrapping and unwrapping
  • Float feature recovers ties dropped overboard

Trade-offs

  • Ties hang one rod each; you need multiple for a full setup
  • Adjustment requires manually moving the buckle each time
  • Foam can compress over years of repeated use
