Quick take
A 7-foot cast net with soft monofilament mesh and lead-weighted hem for capturing live bait.
This Fitec cast net is a round throw net with 3/8-inch mesh and a 26-foot braided hand line, built for casting bait from the bank or a boat. Its braille lines are 90-pound test, and a Komfort Kuff for the throwing wrist and a belt-clip throwing aid for nets under seven feet come with it. It suits anglers who want a dependable net for catching bait before a day on the water.
Best for
- Gathering mullet, herring or minnows for live bait
- Bait fishing in rivers and coastal flats
- Freshwater and saltwater live-bait setups
Skip if
- You are a beginner and have not practiced throwing a net
- You fish vegetation-heavy areas where a net tangles easily
Strengths
- Soft monofilament netting opens easier than hard mesh
- Heavy lead weight sinks quickly and closes the net fast
- Comes with a wrist cuff to reduce chafing during repeated throws
Trade-offs
- A 7-foot net is large and heavy to carry and throw
- Learning to throw a cast net takes practice
- Soft mesh does not last as many years as hard materials
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
- Skill level
- Beginner
