Quick take

A compact floating landing net with a folding aluminum frame and rubber-coated mesh for easy storage in a kayak or boat.

This folding landing net pairs a rubber-coated mesh with an aluminum handle wrapped in EVA foam grip. A foam ring keeps it afloat if it slips from your hand, and the handle folds to about 16.5 inches for tucking into a kayak hatch or small boat. A belt clip lets you carry it on your waist while you fish, and the rubber mesh makes hook removal easier on trout, bass and other freshwater catches.

Best for

  • Kayak and small boat fishing
  • Landing trout and small to medium bass
  • Protecting caught fish with gentle mesh material

Skip if

  • You land very large fish regularly; this net is 15 in wide
  • You fish from shore often; net is optimized for boats

Strengths

  • Rubber-coated mesh is gentle on fish and easy to clean
  • Folding design fits small storage spaces
  • EVA foam ring makes the net float if accidentally dropped overboard

Trade-offs

  • Aluminum handle is lighter than wood but less durable long-term
  • 15 in size limits landing very large fish
  • Rubber mesh retains water; needs to be dried before storage
