Quick take

A landing net with flotation and a tethering cord for fly, wade and kayak fishing that can be safely attached to a belt.

The ForEverlast Generation 2 is a floating landing net built for wading, fly fishing and kayak days. Flotation material keeps it on the surface if it slips away, and a tether cord clips it to a wading belt so it stays within reach. The rubber-coated netting is made to resist snagging hooks, which suits catch-and-release anglers. It weighs about 0.41 kilograms with a fixed, rubber-gripped handle.

Best for

  • Fly fishing for trout and salmon in rivers
  • Wade fishing from shore
  • Kayak fishing in shallow water

Skip if

  • You fish from a boat; net should be boat-mounted
  • You need a net for large saltwater game fish

Strengths

  • Rubber-coated mesh is gentle for catch-and-release
  • Flotation prevents loss if dropped in water
  • Tethering cord attaches to wading belt for quick access
  • Large opening handles fish of various sizes

Trade-offs

  • Plastic frame can break if stepped on or trapped in rocks
  • Non-snag mesh is delicate; thorns can catch it
  • Handle is short; difficult to reach deep water from shore
