Quick take
A specialized measuring gauge for quickly checking crappie length and legal size compliance.
The Frabill EZ Crappie Check'R is a molded polycarbonate gauge built for one job: telling you whether a crappie meets the length limit. Slide the fish in headfirst and read its length, up to 12 inches, without unrolling a tape. It weighs about 0.4 pounds and rinses clean with water, which suits anglers fishing waters with a crappie minimum.
Best for
- Crappie fishing where size limits are important
- Rapid legal size determination without leaving the water
- Minimal fish handling during the check
Skip if
- You fish many species beyond crappie
- You prefer measuring tape or ruler
Strengths
- Designed specifically for crappie body shape
- Quick headfirst slide-in measurement takes seconds
- Minimizes fish stress from handling time
Trade-offs
- Limited to single species
- Only works up to 12 inches, useless for large crappie
- Requires carrying an additional tool
