Quick take

A large ice scooper with a 30 in handle and engraved ruler for clearing holes and measuring.

This is a 30-inch ice scoop for clearing slush and ice chips from a freshly drilled hole. The long handle lets you work standing up, and the engraved ruler along it doubles for checking a fish's length or the thickness of the ice. The scoop head is molded from polypropylene reinforced with nylon, and the whole tool weighs under half a kilogram.

Best for

Clearing slush and ice from fishing holes on frozen lakes
Measuring water depth or checking under-ice conditions
Anglers who ice fish regularly and need a quality scooper

Skip if

You only fish ice fishing occasionally
You want a multi-function tool instead of a dedicated scooper

Strengths

30 in handle length prevents bending over excessively while scooping
Large scoop removes ice and slush efficiently in one motion
Engraved ruler eliminates carrying a separate measuring tool

Trade-offs

Long handle and large scoop take up significant storage space
Heavy duty construction makes it heavier than casual anglers need
Primarily a single-use tool for ice fishing only

Fishing fit

Water: Ice
Techniques: Ice fishing
