Quick take
Bronze baitholder hooks with down eye and shank barbs to keep soft baits secure.
This is a size 4/0 baitholder hook in an NS Black finish, sold as a 25-pack. Small barbs along the shank keep soft baits from sliding down toward the bend, and the needle point is made for clean hook-ups. The black finish suits saltwater trips, so it fits anglers rigging soft plastics or Gulp for bass or fluke.
Best for
- Worms and live bait under floats or on bottom rigs
- Fluke and other saltwater baitfish presentations
- General freshwater and saltwater live bait fishing
Skip if
- You release most fish caught and prefer circle hooks
- You fish soft plastics instead of live bait
Strengths
- Shank barbs hold soft baits securely through the cast
- Down eye suits both snelling and simple clinch knots
- Offset point helps the hook catch as a fish turns away
Trade-offs
- Shank barbs complicate hook removal from deeply hooked fish
- NS finish can rust after saltwater exposure without rinsing
- Size 4/0 is small; may not suit large catfish or saltwater species
