Quick take
Heavy-duty black circle hooks designed to hook the corner of the mouth when fish turn and swim.
The Gamakatsu Octopus Circle 4X Strong in 6/0 is a NS Black circle hook with a straight eye and an offset point, suited to chunk bait and to heavier line and bigger fish. Its circle shape tends to catch in the corner of the jaw, which makes fish easier to unhook and release. Packed 25 to a pack, it fits anglers who fish live or natural bait for larger game.
Best for
- Bottom-fishing for catfish and big saltwater species
- Live bait rigs where hook strength is critical
- Situations where fish usually hook themselves
Strengths
- 4X strength holds large and strong fish without bending
- Offset point turns and catches reliably on turning fish
- Black nickel finish resists saltwater corrosion
Trade-offs
- Large hook size makes them unsuitable for small bait
- Circle hooks require you to set the hook differently than J-hooks
- NS black finish does not last as long as stainless in saltwater
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
- Techniques
- Live bait
- Bottom fishing
