Quick take
A 5 in salt-impregnated soft plastic worm with a cut tail that flutters on the fall, designed for drop-shot and finesse tactics on pressured bass.
A 5-inch finesse worm from Yamamoto, sold in a pack of 10 in Green Pumpkin Pepper. It uses the same salt-laden formulation as the Senko, with a cut tail that adds a flutter on the fall and on a straight retrieve. Anglers chasing bass reach for it on a drop-shot, shaky head or Texas rig.
Best for
- Drop-shot rigs on heavily fished lakes and rivers
- Shakey-head and neko rig presentations
- Suspended largemouth bass in mid-water
Skip if
- You need a larger worm for trophy bass
- You prefer straight-tail worms without tail action
Strengths
- Tapered body is easy to cast on light line despite soft plastic
- Fluttering tail adds subtle action anglers and pressured fish notice
- Salt-impregnated plastic holds fish attention longer
Trade-offs
- 5 inch size limits the appeal to very large bass
- Cut tail design can tear on aggressive strikes
- Colors are sold in sealed packs without individual selection

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
