Quick take

A 14 x 36 in recycled rubber mat with textured surface for fish filleting and cleaning.

This large fish cleaning mat measures 36 by 14 inches and is made in the United States from recycled rubber. Its textured, flat surface grips the fish while you fillet or skin it, and it keeps your knife edges off the table. It suits anglers who clean their catch at home or at a camp table and want a mat that rinses off easily.

Best for

  • Filleting and skinning freshly caught fish
  • Cleaning and processing fish on boat or shore
  • Protecting work surface and knife edges

Skip if

  • You process very large fish regularly
  • You prefer wooden fillet boards

Strengths

  • Textured surface grips fish and prevents slipping
  • Durable recycled rubber resists cuts from blades
  • Protects knife edges from hard work surface contact
  • Large size accommodates most freshwater and small saltwater fish

Trade-offs

  • Rubber absorbs water and may retain odor over time
  • Heavy at 2.52 kg and bulky for transport
  • Textured surface collects scales and debris
