Quick take

A 7.5-inch spring-loaded plier with an off-axis nose and salt-resistant coating for cutting line and removing hooks in freshwater or saltwater.

The Gerber Magniplier-Salt is a 7.5 inch spring-loaded fishing plier with a salt-resistant coating, made for both freshwater and saltwater trips. It has an off-axis nose and an ergonomic grip for working hooks and cutting line, and it ships with a sheath. The tool weighs 5.3 ounces and measures about 5.5 inches long, so it rides easily on a belt or tether.

Best for

Cutting braided and monofilament line
Removing hooks from fish mouths and tackle
Anglers who fish saltwater and need corrosion protection

Skip if

You fish primarily small trout where short, precise cutting tools are preferable
You need extra leverage for very thick line cutting

Strengths

Spring-loaded jaws reduce hand fatigue during extended use
Off-axis nose geometry provides maximum cutting power and control
Salt Rx coating resists rust in harsh saltwater environments

Trade-offs

At 7.5 inches the pliers are bulky for small tackle bags
