Quick take
A pair of lightweight 3-claw metal fish grippers that hold a fish's lip safely and securely.
This is a metal three-claw fish gripper with blue and red plastic grips, sold as a two-pack. It clamps a fish by the lip so you can hold it steady for hook removal, a quick measurement or a photo. The compact body slips into a pocket or tackle bag, which suits anglers who practice catch and release on freshwater species.
Best for
- Handling and controlling freshwater and saltwater fish
- Catch-and-release fishing; minimizes injury
- Removing hooks without stressing the fish
Skip if
- You need to weigh fish on the gripper
- You want a single gripper; this is sold as a 2-pack
Strengths
- 3-claw design spreads gripping force and doesn't puncture delicate skin or gills
- Lightweight metal construction won't tire your hand on a long day
- Plastic grip covers make it comfortable to hold wet and slimy fish
Trade-offs
- 3-claw design isn't as effective on toothy species that snap the claws
- No built-in scale or weight indicator
- Claws can slip on very small panfish or large fish with thin lips
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
