Quick take
A mechanical hanging scale with dial readout that weighs fish up to 50 lbs and includes a tape measure for length.
This Goture hanging scale is a handheld mechanical dial model that needs no batteries and reads up to 50 pounds. It weighs about 6 ounces, so it rides easily in a tackle bag, and the dial reads in pounds and kilograms with a zero adjustment. A built-in tape measure lets you check a fish's length at the same stop, which suits anglers who weigh and release.
Best for
- Weighing trophy fish at boat launch or fishing tournament weigh-in
- Measuring both length and weight for catch-and-release records
- Anglers who fish offshore and in boats where electronic scales fail
Skip if
- You weigh fish rarely and don't want to carry gear to the lake
Strengths
- Mechanical design functions reliably without batteries even in cold or wet conditions
- Chrome-plated hook resists corrosion in saltwater and fresh water alike
- Integrated tape measure saves a separate tool for simultaneous length-and-weight data
Trade-offs
- Dial readout is less precise than digital scales, accurate to only 0.5 lb increments
- Water-resistant but not waterproof; fresh water rinses are necessary in saltwater
- At 50 lbs capacity, large fish beyond that weight cannot be verified on scale
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
