Quick take

A 4-hook sabiki rig with fish-skin imitations, sized #4 for catching small bait fish.

This four-hook sabiki rig in size 4 is built for drawing baitfish up from the water column. It runs on monofilament main and branch lines, and its fish-skin pattern imitates the small forage that bass and other ocean species feed on. The hooks are small and sharp, so handle them with care around clothing, skin and other rods.

Best for

  • Catching live bait from docks and piers
  • Saltwater fishing where live bait is essential
  • Beginners learning to catch their own bait

Skip if

  • You need larger sabiki rigs for bigger bait species
  • You prefer artificial lures to live bait rigs

Strengths

  • Fish-skin lures on each hook look natural and attract bait fish immediately
  • Four hooks let you catch multiple bait fish with one drop
  • Size #4 works for small baitfish like silversides and sand eels

Trade-offs

  • Smaller hooks and 4-hook design make it easy to tangle
  • Fish-skin lures deteriorate quickly; need frequent replacement
  • May not attract large baitfish needed for big game species
