Quick take
Pre-rigged six-hook sabiki rig with flashing skirts for fast live bait capture from schools of small fish.
The Hayabusa Mix-Flash sabiki is a multi-hook rig for anglers who want to catch small baitfish before a trip, and its size 6 needle-point hooks suit small forage. The rig's flash-style arrangement is designed to resemble the baitfish and forage that saltwater gamefish feed on. It is a good pick for slow fishing periods when live bait is the goal, and Japanese hook sizing differs from US numbers.
Best for
- Catching live baitfish for larger species in schools
- Saltwater pier and jetty fishing for mackerel and jacks
- Quick fill of livewells at the start of a boat trip
Skip if
- You fish one or two baits at a time and want precise control
- You target large predators that ignore schooling baitfish
Strengths
- Six hooks catch multiple baitfish at once on a single drop
- Flashing skirts and mix colors attract aggressive schooling fish
- Needle points penetrate quickly and hold small baitfish firmly
Trade-offs
- Multiple hooks on one rig mean tangles if fish run or thrash
- Thin gauge hooks bend on aggressive strikes from larger species
- Requires landing net or dip net to avoid line breakage on hook-up
