Quick take
Portable digital scale with tare function for weighing fish, game, and gear in the field.
This hanging scale weighs a hung catch or game up to 880 lb (400 kg), reading in pounds, kilograms or newtons. A tare function zeroes out a bag or container, and the readout is accurate to about 0.1 lb. It runs on two AA batteries and hangs from an iron hook, so it packs easily into a tackle bag or hunting pack.
Best for
- Tournament fishing where accurate weigh-ins matter
- Documenting your catch on multi-day fishing trips
- General weighing of luggage, packages or other outdoor gear
Skip if
- You only catch small panfish and don't need precise weights
- You want a scale that hangs from a rod guide
Strengths
- High 880 lb capacity handles large fish and multiple catches
- Tare function lets you zero the scale with a container or bag
- Compact and portable design fits easily in a tackle bag
Trade-offs
- LED display requires batteries (included)
- Hanging hook may wear from repeated use
- Auto-off feature means you must re-power for each weighing
