Quick take

A floating mesh chum bag for holding and dispersing bait, scent, and chum to attract fish in saltwater environments.

This is a Hurricane mesh chum bag with a bucket-like shape, built to hold chum and release it into the water while you fish. It weighs about 4.8 ounces and folds flat to roughly 12.6 by 10.9 inches, so it is easy to stash in a tackle bag. A fit for anglers who want to draw fish toward their spot from a dock, pier or boat.

Best for

  • Saltwater chum fishing for bottom species
  • Releasing ground bait or fish scraps to create a scent trail
  • Bait fishing in open water or from boats

Skip if

  • You fish freshwater exclusively
  • You use live bait that requires container protection

Strengths

  • Flexible mesh allows scent to disperse while containing chunks
  • Floating design keeps chum in the fishing zone
  • Large opening allows easy loading of chum material

Trade-offs

  • Mesh size allows small bait pieces to escape prematurely
  • Floating design can be swept away by current
  • Limited durability; mesh deteriorates after prolonged saltwater use
