Quick take

A 80 lb durable monofilament leader with shock strength and low memory for saltwater fishing and heavy rigs.

This is a clear monofilament leader material that comes on a 360-foot spool, made for saltwater setups. Anglers tie it between the main line and the lure or hook when they want a soft, flexible leader with low stretch. It comes in many strengths, so you can match the spool to the species you chase.

Best for

  • Saltwater bottom fishing and rigs
  • Anglers needing strong leader material
  • Situations where shock strength protects against sudden loading

Skip if

  • You fish freshwater; this is saltwater-oriented
  • You want an invisible leader; 80 lb is always visible

Strengths

  • Very low memory keeps leader manageable despite heavy test
  • Excellent shock strength prevents sudden break on hooksets
  • Soft and flexible despite heavy breaking strength

Trade-offs

  • Clear color at 80 lb provides minimal visibility advantage
  • Heavy test requires skilled line management
  • Monofilament less abrasion resistant than fluorocarbon
