Quick take
A water-resistant 14 liter tackle backpack with 2 rod sleeves, MOLLE system, and 9 pockets for shore and kayak fishing.
The KastKing KarryAll KastMate is a soft-shell tackle backpack in black, with a PVC-coated Oxford shell that sheds light rain and boat spray. It carries two rod sleeves, MOLLE webbing, D-rings, a beverage holder and several zippered pockets, so a day on the bank, a kayak or a boat stays organized. Padded shoulder straps and a chest strap keep the load comfortable while you move between spots.
Best for
- Shore and kayak anglers
- Wading trips where hands-free storage is essential
Skip if
- You fish from a boat with a fixed storage area
- You carry large hard tackle boxes
Strengths
- Padded shoulder straps distribute weight on long walks
- Shock-absorbing EPE foam protects your back
- Multiple pockets organize tackle by type
Trade-offs
- Main compartment fits only 4 utility boxes, limiting storage
- Water-resistant but not fully waterproof
- Backpack design takes longer to access tackle than a box
