Quick take
An 11 inch pistol-grip pliers with angled fish lip gripper and integrated wire cutter for hook removal and leader crimping.
These 11-inch fishing pliers have a 90-degree pistol grip with a rubber handle, built to give extra leverage when working a hook free from a fish's mouth. The jaws double as a lip gripper, and the tool also includes a wire cutter and crimping slots for putting together leaders. A polymer coating on the carbon steel body guards against rust around saltwater, which suits anglers who want one tool in the tackle box for unhooking and leader work.
Best for
- Removing deep-set hooks from fish mouths
- Cutting heavy mono and leader material
- Tightening crimped sleeves on wire leaders
Skip if
- You need a smaller pliers for ultralight finesse setups
- You prefer smooth-grip handles over non-slip rubber
Strengths
- 90-degree pistol grip provides superior leverage for tough hooks
- Corrosion-resistant polymer coating protects from salt and rust
- Integrated wire cutter handles heavy mono and cable
Trade-offs
- 11 inch length is bulky for tackle bag or vest pockets
- Pistol grip adds bulk compared to conventional pliers
- Spring-loaded handle can jam with salt deposits
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
