Quick take

A baitfeeder spinning reel with front and rear drag for live bait presentations, suitable for fresh and saltwater fishing.

The Sharky Baitfeeder III in size 6000 is a spinning reel with a baitfeeder-style front and rear drag, made for anglers who fish live or cut bait in fresh or salt water. It pairs a CNC aluminum braid-ready spool and a graphite body with 10+1 shielded stainless bearings and a 5.5:1 gear ratio. A spare graphite spool comes with it, and the handle swaps to either side.

Best for

  • Live bait fishing for catfish and stripers
  • Presentations requiring baitfeeder secondary drag control
  • Anglers transitioning from conventional reels

Skip if

  • You only cast lures; a standard spinning reel is simpler
  • You need ultra-light spinning; baitfeeders are heavier

Strengths

  • Rear drag enables anglers to reduce drag for live bait runs
  • Front drag for normal adjustment and hookset
  • Graphite body and sealed design for durability

Trade-offs

  • Dual drag system adds complexity and potential confusion
  • Heavier than standard spinning reels
  • Secondary drag requires separate learning curve
