Quick take
Eight-piece tool kit with corrosion-resistant pliers, fillet knife and scissors for cleaning fish and removing hooks.
This KastKing SteelStream kit bundles eight tools for the boat or bank: 7-inch pliers with a coiled lanyard, a 7-inch fillet knife, 4.5-inch braid scissors, a floating lip gripper, a tool retractor, a hook remover and two bungee cords. The pliers use carbon steel with a corrosion-resistant coating, while the knife and scissors are stainless steel. It suits anglers who want one set covering cutting line, unhooking and cleaning a catch.
Best for
- Anglers who clean their own fish at home or on the water
- Boat fishing where you need multiple tools organized
- Learning to fillet and process your catch
Skip if
- You primarily catch and release
- You prefer individual specialty tools over an all-in-one kit
Strengths
- Carbon steel pliers with corrosion-resistant coating handle both light and heavy work
- 420 stainless steel knife is easy to sharpen and resists rust
- Serrated scissors cut braid and mono without slipping
- Carabiner lanyard on pliers keeps them from dropping in the water
Trade-offs
- A kit of generalist tools won't match the quality of specialized pliers or fillet knife
- Rubber handles can degrade with heavy saltwater use
- 7-piece bungee system can tangle if not coiled carefully
