Quick take
Telescopic gaff that extends from 23.6 to 47.24 inches for landing fish from shore or boat.
This telescoping gaff pairs an aluminum pole with a stainless steel spear hook and a rubber grip, and it collapses from about 47 inches down to roughly 24 inches. It weighs 8 ounces and packs to a 17-inch carry size, so it fits in a boat locker or tackle bag. Anglers landing large fish from a boat or bank can use the longer reach to bring a catch within range, and the lanyard keeps it secured.
Best for
- Netting large fish at the end of the fight
- Fishing from docks, piers or rocky banks where reach is limited
- Both saltwater and freshwater fishing
Skip if
- You prefer net-based fish landing
- You fish from elevated platforms or boat rails
Strengths
- Telescopic design collapses for compact storage and transport
- Stainless steel hook resists corrosion in saltwater
- Sharpened spear point penetrates fish mouth securely
Trade-offs
- Gaff hook harms the fish; better kept for saltwater or large aggressive species
- Telescopic mechanism can fail if not properly maintained
- Aluminum construction is lightweight but can dent or bend under pressure
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
