Quick take
Commercial bait bag designed to contain live crabs or shrimp inside traps, secured with a rubber locker strap.
This commercial-style bait bag from KUFA is a small mesh pouch with 3/4 inch stretched mesh, made to hold bait inside a crab trap. A rubber locker closes it, and a hook lets you fasten it anywhere in the trap. It weighs about 0.2 pounds, so it adds almost nothing to the gear you carry out to the water.
Best for
- Crab trap fishing in saltwater locations
- Crabbing and shrimping operations
- Bait presentation inside traps where scent attracts crustaceans
Skip if
- You fish with hook and line rather than traps
- You fish freshwater locations without crab populations
Strengths
- Stretched mesh allows scent to disperse into surrounding water
- Rubber locker keeps bait securely contained in the trap
- Durable rubber construction withstands saltwater and repeated use
Trade-offs
- Specialized tool useful mainly for trap fishing rather than conventional angling
- Requires proper trap setup knowledge to use effectively
- Regular cleaning needed to prevent buildup and extend product life
