Quick take
12-inch gaff with 4x3 inch stainless steel hook, sized for landing medium fish from boat or wading position.
This 12-inch hand gaff pairs a wooden handle with a stainless steel hook measuring 4 by 3 inches and 1/4 inch thick. It is a compact option for landing a big fish from a kayak, float tube or small boat where storage space is tight. A nylon rope hanger and protective tip cover make it easier to stow between trips.
Best for
- Landing fish at the boat gunnel
- Kayak and float tube fishing where storage is limited
- Situations where net use is impractical or forbidden
Skip if
- You land small fish regularly; net is simpler and safer
- You fish tight spaces where gaff swing is impossible
Strengths
- Stainless steel hook resists corrosion in saltwater
- Compact size fits easily in boat or tackle bag storage
- Nylon rope hanger prevents loss overboard
- Protective tip covers extend hook life
Trade-offs
- Gaff damages fish; unsuitable for catch-and-release fishing
- Small hook size limits use to medium fish
