Quick take

A pair of vinyl-coated crab traps with 100 ft rope, float, calipers and bait case for Pacific crabbing.

This two-pack gives you two vinyl-coated crab traps, each 24 by 24 inches with four one-way doors to hold the catch. The kit also includes 100 feet of lead core rope, a four-arm harness, a crab caliper, a bait bag with a rubber lock, and a red and white float. It is set up for crabbing on the West Coast and in Alaska, where the caliper is suited to local crab sizes.

Best for

Crabbing in California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska
Recreational dungeness and Alaskan king crab fishing
Anglers harvesting crabs for the table

Skip if

You fish for finfish only
You live outside the Pacific region; check local regulations

Strengths

Vinyl coating protects steel from corrosion in saltwater
Four one-way doors allow crabs in but prevent escape
Caliper included to measure crabs against local size regulations

Trade-offs

Large 24 x 24 in traps are heavy and require boat access
