Quick take

Fully-rigged 6.5 in jet head trolling lures with stainless hooks designed to entice tuna, dolphin and wahoo.

This 6.5-inch metal jet head trolling lure is set up with a 6/0 hook for offshore trolling. It is aimed at tuna, mahi mahi, wahoo, marlin and sailfish, the pelagic fish anglers chase in blue water. A skirted jet head like this suits boat anglers working a trolling spread.

Best for

  • Offshore trolling for pelagic species
  • Multi-species setups when target species vary
  • High-speed trolling passes

Skip if

  • You fish inshore waters only
  • You prefer hand-tied lure customization

Strengths

  • Fully rigged with heavy-duty 150 lb leader and 6/0 hook ready to fish
  • Crystal jet head and heavy skirt weedless and durable on rocks
  • 5-color variety lets you match baitfish or try different attractants

Trade-offs

  • 6.5 in profile too large for inshore species and shallow water
  • Heavy jet head design limits reeling speed and finesse
  • Pre-rigged construction locks you into fixed leader and hook

About this type

A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.

Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.

Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
