Quick take
A 9'6" medium-power rod with fast action, designed for steelhead and salmon float and drift fishing.
The Lamiglas X-11 LX106HC is a 10.5 ft two-piece casting rod with a cork grip, made for salmon and steelhead. Its heavy power and moderate-fast action suit 15 to 30 lb line and lures from 1 to 8 oz. Pick it for float, drift or spinner presentations on bigger rivers where you need reach and backbone.
Best for
- Float fishing for steelhead in rivers
- Salmon drifting with spinners and bait
- Anglers with experience in drift and float techniques
Skip if
- You are new to salmon and steelhead fishing; you need instruction
- You plan to cast lures; a shorter casting rod is better suited
Strengths
- Fast action delivers power at the tip for setting hooks at distance
- 9'6" length controls the drift and mend across the river
- Cork handle transmits feel through the line from the float
Trade-offs
- The long rod is heavy and tiring for all-day use
- Fast action at a distance makes sensitive float detection harder
- Cork handles absorb water in wet conditions
