Quick take
All-purpose pliers for cutting braided line, removing hooks, opening split rings, and crimping sleeves.
This is a two-pack of 7.8-inch fishing pliers with a spring-loaded, one-handed action and a wavy non-slip handle. Each pair is built from molybdenum vanadium steel and aluminum alloy, with a split ring tip for opening rings and lifting hooks free. A nylon sheath and lanyard come along, so anglers fishing fresh or salt water can keep a cutter within reach for trimming braid, mono or fly line.
Best for
- Saltwater fishing where braided line cutting is essential
- Quick-change tackle rigging
- Removing deeply hooked fish
Skip if
- You primarily use monofilament line and don't need heavy cutters
Strengths
- Molybdenum vanadium steel resists saltwater corrosion
- Spring action and titanium-coated clamps reduce hand fatigue
- One-handed opening design speeds up tackle work on the boat
Trade-offs
- Larger size makes them bulky compared to some pliers
- Split ring opener tip can bend with excessive force
- Leather sheath adds weight but protects the tool
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
