Quick take

A pack of 10 lead mushroom jig heads sized for the finesse Ned rig technique on light line.

This lead mushroom jig head comes ten to a pack in a 1/8 oz size and is built for the Ned rig, a finesse setup that pairs the head with a soft plastic bait. Bass anglers use it to work a small bait slowly along the bottom, with a rounded head that sits well for dragging and hopping. Anglers choosing a weight can use the 1/8 oz size for a light presentation.

Best for

  • Tough conditions when bass won't bite aggressive lures
  • Finesse techniques with small soft plastics
  • Drop-shot or Ned rig setups

Skip if

  • You fish heavy cover or thick vegetation
  • You need to make long casts on light line in wind

Strengths

  • Mushroom shape holds soft plastic baits securely during casting
  • At 1/8 oz these heads work well on light spinning or baitcasting tackle
  • Sharp hooks have good hook-up rates on subtle strikes

Trade-offs

  • Ned rig technique requires patience and subtlety; it is not fast-paced fishing
  • 1/8 oz heads will not work in heavy current without adding weight
  • These heads work best with specific soft plastic profiles and require skill to use effectively
