Quick take

A 6'8" medium-heavy casting rod with fast action, designed for jerkbaits and heavy bass lures.

This 6'8" one-piece casting rod from Lew's KVD series is built around jerkbait fishing for bass. Its IM8 graphite blank has medium-heavy power and fast action, and it handles 12 to 25 lb line with 3/8 to 3/4 oz lures. A split EVA grip and a No Foul hook keeper round out a setup that suits anglers working suspending baits.

Best for

  • Bass fishing with jerkbaits and larger swimbaits
  • Anglers targeting thick cover and heavy structure
  • Long-distance accuracy casting

Skip if

  • You fish light finesse presentations
  • You need a one-piece rod for maximum sensitivity

Strengths

  • IM8 graphite with Carbon Nano Tube construction provides power and sensitivity
  • Split EVA grip is durable and comfortable for all-day casting
  • Stainless steel guides with zirconia inserts reduce friction

Trade-offs

  • Medium-heavy power is too much for small finesse lures
  • One-piece design limits portability
  • Fast action reduces feel for subtle bites on light line
