Quick take
Fingerless cold-weather gloves with exposed thumb and index for dexterous fishing tasks in winter.
These black polyester gloves leave the thumb and index finger open for tying knots and handling small tackle, and the zipper-closed, coral fleece-lined wrist keeps cold air out. Silicone grip on the palm and fingertips helps with a wet rod and line, and the windproof, splash-resistant shell suits chilly mornings on the water. They come in a large size and weigh about 3.5 ounces.
Best for
- Winter fly fishing and tying
- Cold weather when finger sensitivity matters
- Any outdoor activity requiring hand dexterity
Skip if
- You fish warm water
- You need heavy insulation
Strengths
- Two-finger cutout leaves critical digits free for tying and rigging
- Touchscreen-compatible on thumb and index
- Water-repellent layer sheds spray and light rain
Trade-offs
- Exposed fingers lose warmth in extreme cold
- Windproof layer reduces tactile sensitivity
- Limited wrist coverage compared to full gloves
