Quick take
A lightweight floating net with rubber mesh that protects fish during catch-and-release and folds for easy storage.
This is a rubber-mesh landing net with a foam-padded hoop that floats and a lanyard cord with a clip to keep it attached to you. The aluminum handle telescopes out to 40 inches and folds down for carrying, and the whole net weighs about 12.5 ounces. It suits kayak, boat and bank anglers who want a hook-friendly mesh for catch and release in fresh or salt water.
Best for
- Fly fishing and trout fishing in streams
- Kayak and canoe fishing
- Saltwater catch-and-release fishing
Skip if
- You need a boat net with deeper bag
- You fish primarily from the bank without boat access
Strengths
- Rubber mesh prevents hook snags and scratches on fish
- Floating design keeps net from sinking if dropped overboard
- Telescoping handle extends reach without excessive storage bulk
Trade-offs
- Rubber mesh absorbs water; dry quickly before storage
- Foam padding reduces durability compared to rigid frames
- Lighter construction may bend under weight of large saltwater fish
